Vics all over the World

Samba Dan Haralambous in 'Rio de Jenero, Brazil'

Following the 1st teams promotion to the top flight of Cheshire League football last season, coupled with the continued rise & progression of our Reserve team crop, we felt the time right to accelarate the clubs desire to kick start Blue & Black junior football. Vics 'Juniors' is already underway with the formation of an under 11's squad, although in it's infancy, it's our hope that more teams will now follow.
This was a step that we had always planned to implement, as the catchment area around Tarporley is so small. A club that has grown with so much drive over recent times, quite rightly justifies both the time & investment into such a key area of development. The idea will be to generate young footballers that will secure the playing future of our football club, being coached and learning the clubs values and commitment, whilst playing for the oppurtunity to play at 1st team level in the future.
Being able to touch into Andy Williams experience, who set up Tarporley Wanderers FC a few years ago, means we now have a template to open up the real potential and invite interested coaches along to help build on what is currently, a solitary Junior side.
Andrew Moreton & Dave Windsor will be helping set up and launch the U/11's side, our plan is to have them playing in the South Cheshire League from the start of the 2011/12 season from September. I'd like to welcome both into the club on what I'm sure will be only the start of yet more continued good times for the Blue & Black.

The annual Cooper Smith Trophy game ended in a tough goalless draw. The visitors started on the front and never allowed Cheshire to get their passing game going which had been the main reason Cheshire had been unbeaten so far this season.
West Cheshire had plenty of the ball but never threatened the home teams goal, as the first half wore on Cheshire slowly started to creep into the game with Lee Malkin causing a few nervous moments in the visitors box. As the first half came to a close West Cheshire's best chance when a cross from the left created panic in the home teams box, it took a superb block from Richard Chinn to stop a certain goal.
The second half was much of the same, but Cheshire started to get a grip on the game and only a fine save from the visitors keeper kept out Lee Malkin's blistering, angled drive. Cheshire suffered a major blow on the hour mark when they lost the inspirational Ally Moore with a suspected broken nose. The game reached the latter stages with West Cheshire pressing but again, with no real threat to Neil McDermott's goal, this was mainly down to an excellent work ethic from the whole Cheshire side.
So the game finished goalless with West Cheshire holding on to the trophy as they are the holders but Cheshire can take a great deal from the game because they had to wear a different hat tonight from the one of free flowing football in the previous three games and to their credit battled & scrapped for every ball against a very good and tough side.
